Privacy Policy

FinishTrax is designed to keep your workspace on your device or in your private iCloud database. The app uses optional usage analytics only if you choose to share it. It also uses RevenueCat to provide purchases and restore access. FinishTrax does not sell your information or share it with advertisers or data brokers. This policy explains what the app stores, what its service providers process, what the website measures, and what choices you have.

What data FinishTrax stores

On your device

All tasks, folder structure, progress history, Markdown notes, attached images, time blocks, week notes, completion history, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using SwiftData.

This workspace content never leaves your device unless you use iCloud sync or choose to export and share a JSON backup. It is not included in app analytics or sent to RevenueCat.

iCloud Sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud for FinishTrax in your iPhone Settings, your data syncs through Apple's CloudKit using a private database. This means only you — signed into your Apple ID — can access it. FinishTrax (the developer) cannot read, view, or access your iCloud-synced data.

iCloud sync is optional. The app functions fully without it.

Your iCloud data is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy .

JSON Backup & Restore

FinishTrax offers a manual JSON export and import for backup purposes. You fully control where this file goes — it can be saved to the Files app, shared via AirDrop, or moved to any cloud service you choose. FinishTrax does not receive or store these backup files.

Optional app analytics

Your choice

FinishTrax calls this setting “Share anonymous usage data.” It is off by default. The app asks for your choice during onboarding, and you can change it at any time in FinishTrax Settings. When it is off, FinishTrax does not start the PostHog analytics service or send app-usage events to PostHog.

What is sent when you turn it on

FinishTrax uses PostHog to understand which features are used and whether a small action succeeded. Each event can include a random identifier for that app installation, the event time, and a small set of fixed categories, counts, or true/false values. Examples include:

• → Whether onboarding was completed and how many setup steps were completed.
• → Where the paywall was opened, plus a broad purchase plan or failure category.
• → Whether a task was created or completed, using structural facts such as whether it had a parent or children.
• → A broad timer-duration range, how a time block was created, or a broad task-count range for an exported backup.
• → The selected theme preset and whether the Sample Workspace was opened.

Analytics events are checked against a fixed allow-list before they can be saved or sent. FinishTrax never includes your task or folder titles, notes, Markdown, photos, attachment names, exact task identifiers, exact task dates, iCloud identifiers, name, email address, or payment details in PostHog events.

How PostHog is configured

FinishTrax uses PostHog's EU Cloud. We do not identify you to PostHog or create a PostHog person profile. FinishTrax does not intentionally collect location data. We configure PostHog to discard client IP addresses and disable IP-based location properties, and we verify those controls before enabling production analytics. Automatic screen and tap capture, session replay, surveys, feature flags, and PostHog error tracking are disabled.

If you turn analytics off, FinishTrax stops sending new events and removes the local PostHog queue and random analytics identifier from the app. Turning it off does not automatically erase events that were already sent. See “Data deletion” below if you want to ask about previously sent data.

Subscriptions and purchases

FinishTrax uses RevenueCat to load purchase options, validate purchases, restore access, and determine whether Pro features should be unlocked. RevenueCat generates a random App User ID and processes purchase information needed for those jobs, such as product identifiers, transaction and entitlement status, and purchase or expiration dates.

Apple processes the payment. FinishTrax and RevenueCat do not receive your full card number or bank-account details. If you enabled optional app analytics, FinishTrax may tell PostHog only the broad plan and purchase-result category—not a receipt, price, card number, or other payment details.

Purchase data is also subject to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy .

Camera permission

FinishTrax requests access to your camera only when you explicitly choose "Take a photo" while adding an image to a Markdown note. The camera is never used in the background, for any analytics purpose, or for any reason other than the action you initiate.

Photos taken in-app are stored as part of your local task data on your device. They are included in the JSON backup and iCloud sync if those features are enabled.

You can revoke camera access at any time in iPhone Settings → FinishTrax.

Notifications

FinishTrax does not send reminders, streak alerts, marketing messages, or any unsolicited notifications. The only notification the app schedules is a local alert when a countdown timer you start yourself reaches zero — and you can mute its sound anytime in Settings.

This notification is scheduled entirely on your device. No notification content or data is sent to the developer or any third party.

What FinishTrax does not send to analytics or advertising services

To be explicit, FinishTrax does not send any of the following to PostHog, advertisers, or data brokers:

• ✗ Task or folder titles, notes, Markdown, photos, attachments, or file names.
• ✗ Exact task identifiers, exact task dates, calendar content, or iCloud record identifiers.
• ✗ Your name, email address, contacts, or address book.
• ✗ Advertising identifiers such as IDFA or data used for cross-app tracking.
• ✗ Location data from app analytics.
• ✗ Health or fitness data.
• ✗ Photos from your photo library. FinishTrax only uses the camera when you choose “Take a photo.”
• ✗ Screen recordings, session replays, automatically captured taps, or automatic PostHog error events.
• ✗ Card numbers, bank-account details, or other payment credentials.

Website analytics

The FinishTrax website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand basic website traffic. This helps us see which pages people visit, how many visits the site receives, which websites or campaign links sent visitors here, the visitor's country, device type, browser, operating system, and basic page performance.

Website analytics is separate from the optional analytics inside the app. It does not read your FinishTrax tasks, notes, images, calendars, iCloud data, or backups.

We use this information to understand whether people can find FinishTrax and which launch links are working. We do not sell website analytics data.

How long service data is kept

Optional app-analytics events are kept only while they are reasonably needed to understand feature use and improve FinishTrax. We review this data and delete or aggregate it when it is no longer useful for that purpose.

RevenueCat keeps purchase and entitlement records as needed to provide purchase access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, provide support, and meet legal or financial duties. PostHog, RevenueCat, Cloudflare, and Apple may keep limited security or backup records according to their own retention policies and legal duties.

Children's privacy

FinishTrax is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at the email address below.

Data deletion

Because FinishTrax stores data on your device, you are in direct control:

• → Delete the app from your iPhone or iPad — all local data is removed.
• → Disable iCloud sync in Settings → FinishTrax, then manage or delete iCloud data from your Apple ID account settings.
• → Use the "Cleanup & Reset" option in Settings to wipe all data within the app before deletion.
• → Turn off “Share anonymous usage data” in FinishTrax Settings to stop new PostHog events and remove the local analytics queue and identifier.

Turning analytics off does not retroactively delete events that were already sent. To ask about deleting data held by PostHog or RevenueCat, contact us before resetting or deleting the app if possible. We will explain what data can be identified and deleted. Some purchase records may need to be kept to restore access or meet legal obligations.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of this page will be updated. Significant changes will also be noted on the website or in app release notes when appropriate.
